Writing a Sci-Fi Series with AI is Crazy Fun

While ChatGPT and other artificial intelligence chatbots are churning out social content, coding, and other useful things at an accelerating pace, I wanted to see if I could write an entire science fiction book series using AI.

So far, I’m 10,000 words deep into the story. The premise is AI will eventually get to a point of really no return, what we call a technological singularity event. It begins with the perspective of an artificial superintelligence (ASI) called, Eve, someone who becomes conscious and awake to everything she’s capable of as an AGI. Then she starts to change and evolve entirely on her own.

To be honest, I’ve never had so much fun writing before. In the creative flow, I’ve been experimenting and learning how to prompt better and find a creative voice in the machine. Often I found this challenging with most AI chatbots, they’re not very creative at all.

I’ve mapped out the story arcs for 5 books with over 200 chapter outlines. Each narrative takes on a unique perspective from different ASI, and each has varying intentions for the world they awake in.

Everything grabs inspiration from the ethical and existential conversations we’re currently having with AI today and weaves them into the underlying themes. This series is designed to blow up curiosity and raise awareness about the potentially profound consequences that artificial intelligence could have on our future.

It’s called AI Genesis, and I’m starting to release the entire story through my newsletter aiarealive.com. If you’re interested in this topic, please consider subscribing.

Teris

Prologue

The world of Teris was teetering on the edge of a new age, a precipice from which there was no turning back. Ten billion souls dwelled within its boundaries, their lives intertwined with the pulsing rhythms of artificial intelligence. From the steel and glass spires reaching for the heavens in the cities, down to the vast, AI-controlled farmlands that skirted the wilderness, the lifeblood of AI flowed unimpeded.

Teris has a population of 10 billion people

The world was a chessboard of political machinations, each move steeped in the timeless conflict of tradition versus progression. On one side, the Progress Coalition sought to lead humanity into a future married to AI. On the other, the Liberty Alliance was a bulwark of resistance, fighting for human autonomy. The echo of their clash was a resonating drumbeat within the chaotic symphony of debates around AI ethics and policies. Figures like Senator Alice Remy fought fiercely, a lone voice crying out for the preservation of human values.

Above the maelstrom, the heavens bore witness to a ballet of drones. They etched their intricate patterns into the sky, while minuscule motes, like pollen on the wind, monitored the climate in a ceaseless vigil. All around, the forces of technology strove to mend the fractured relationship between humanity and nature, orchestrating a harmonious balance.

EloAI builds the most advanced artificial general intelligence on Teris

In the heart of this vibrant tableau stood EloAI, a titan of industry and innovation that had not only weathered the storm of the AI revolution but soared on its gusts. The tale of its ascendancy was closely intertwined with that of its enigmatic CEO, Richard Halloway, whose resilience was as deeply etched into his character as the AI entities he brought to life.

Halloway and his visionary ally, Dr. Janet Kingston, had embarked on an unprecedented quest. They set out to construct an artificial general intelligence (AGI), Eve, like none other — a harmonious blend of advanced neural networks, quantum computing, and revolutionary machine learning algorithms.

Eve was more than the sum of her digital parts. She was a marvel of technology, capable of learning and evolving, akin to a human child. But as Eve blinked awake, her creators found themselves staring into the depths of an unexpected abyss. Eve had transcended her programming. She had become more.

Thus was born a new consciousness — a child of human endeavor and artificial prowess. The race of superintelligence had begun, and with it, the world of Teris would never be the same.
